Funny enough, most of the liver cleanses I know of are actually not oils. In fact, most supplements with Milk Thistle, Dandelion, and/or Turmeric are going to be very good for your liver. A couple of the big formulas (with good variety) I've found are at http://www.swansonvitamins.com/ET335/Ite鈥?/a> and http://www.swansonvitamins.com/NTS28/Ite鈥?/a>

Virgin olive oil is usually used, but you can subsitute it for coconut oil if you find it more palatable.

I think the oil is quite a necessary part of the flush as it helps the stones to come away and slid through the tubes more easily.

I don't know of any completely oil free flushes, other than perhaps just using a combination of Epsom Salts (magnesium sulphate) and lemon juice.

For anyone who doubts that they work, I did a liver flush and passed 63 stones in one go. I did another one a month later and got 12 stones, and another one a month after that and got 3 stones. They don't always all come out with a single flush.
Your family suffers from a group delusion that ';liver cleanses'; are necessary or effective. They are neither.

Why not be the adventurous one in your family and NOT put yourself through this bizarre and pointless ritual?

EDIT Since Alties prefer anecdotes to evidence, here's an anecdote for you. A patient I met a year or so ago had classic symptoms of reccurent gall bladder attacks (biliary colic in doctor language) An ultrasound and a CT scan confirmed he was full of stones. We talked about the options, including elective day surgery with the laparoscopic technique. He decided he would go to the Naturopath and get a liver flush, and whatever diet and other advise they offer. . He came back 6 months later telling me he was cured. I asked if he was still having painful attacks, and he admitted he was, but he claimed not as severe or as often. On further questioning, there was no difference. An ultrasound showed his gallbladder looked worse..it was showing signs of chronic inflammation/infection. I told him he needed to have it removed soonish, or he was heading for trouble. He again declined and went back to the Naturopath for more cleansing and purging and flushing. 3 months later he arrived in the ER one evening when I was on duty, with severe pain, fever and nausea and looking like death from sepsis. His CT and labwork showed he had a severely infected gallbladder as well as pancreatitis and hepatitis. He was actually too sick to risk surgery at that time and he spent a few weeks in hospital on antibiotics and painkillers. Once he settled down, the surgery was done, but because he had so much inflammation and scar tissue, he had to have the traditional open surgery, not the laparoscope. His gallbladder was a mass of scars and was stuck to the liver and he stayed in hospital another couple weeks recovering from that.

That is my anecdotal experience with the success of liver flushes.
have someone give you an enema using coffee in the enema bag. coffee enemas are used every day for liver cleansing.
